Work in Schools
Who Does the Work? Move On, a voluntary organisation, co-ordinates delivery of peer education housing workshops, with support from statutory and voluntary organisations.
Who Pays for It? The Council.
How is it delivered? Young volunteer peer educators, who have previously experienced homelessness, deliver workshops around homelessness and housing options. They are trained and supported by staff from Move On and work with statutory and voluntary organisations.
Everyone involved with delivery has completed comprehensive training courses.
Who is Targeted? S4,S5,S6
What Resources Are Used? Move On have created their own games and teaching methods using the games.
How long has work in this (or other) form being going on? After a successful pilot, the current project began in 2004. It is now entering it's 4th academic year (2007).
How is the work monitored / evaluated?
3 monthly meetings with Move On staff and volunteers and a three monthly report cover:
- Feedback from evaluation forms from pupils
- Take up from schools
- Training given to sessional and org staff and volunteers
- Progress on volunteers (employment, housing etc)
