As we say throughout the guide, it is really helpful, and sometimes vital, to get advice from a worker when you are making decisions about moving on and getting your own place.

A worker can be any of the following:

  • social worker, key worker, link worker, youth or youth club worker, community worker, support worker;
  • a teacher, a doctor or nurse, a priest or religious leader;
  • someone who works for the Citizens' Advice Bureau, a housing officer, a welfare rights officer, a Shelter Housing Aid worker;
  • anyone else whose job involves giving advice, support and information to people;
All these people are there to help you - you only have to ask. If the first person you ask is not able to help, then try someone else.

You can also pick up flyers, leaflets and helpful information from your Council, your local Citizens' Advice Bureau, your local youth information project, and from other projects and organisations.
